As a design researcher, this course is a chance for me to experience the system as a first-time user might.
I've purposely avoided learning too much about it before I interviewed two users. This is because the way someone describes a system or product to someone who knows little about it, reveals much about the person's mental model of the product. Now that I've done the interviews, I'm going through the manuals to have a closer look.
Already, some potential themes are beginning to emerge - things that careBUILDER can maybe do differently, or better.
More to follow soon!

Hi from Terri Smith, ELearning Manager. Welcome to QLearning Online's 'Spotlight on Practice' blog, where each month we will be inviting practitioners across Quarriers to share practice they are involved in.
Why is this a good idea? Why a Blog? What is a Blog?
We think its a good idea to use an elearning website like this to promote actual, live practice. Reading about the practice of others is a powerful way of learning and helps to add to the blended learning model you'll be hearing more about - using a variety of approaches to learn, including a variety of online methods. If you've used our site, you will have completed some self study activities designed to give you knowledge about basic areas of organisational and /or social care work. A blog - short for 'weblog' - is a web based public diary, which can feature personal views, experience and current news. They can be entertaining and/or educational. There are millions of blogs on the internet - some make really good reading on a particular topic, one of my favourites The Rapid ELearning Blog keeps me up to date on elearning design . You can comment and discuss with the blog author your thoughts on their thoughts . . . bit like a public diary. You can embed videos, podcasts and pictures in them to give more interest. Oh, and everyone with a log on to this website has their own blog - you can make it personal to you, or publish it for all logged on users to see. Its great to use as proof of CPD, or as a reflective log for qualifications work. Detailed guides on how to use the blog coming soon. You will find your a 'blog menu' on the blocks on the right hand side of your screen. If you click to expand it you can see an option to 'add an entry' to your blog. We are going to have some future assessments coming up in which you can use your blog to demonstrate your learning.
